Steven R. Pliszka, MD, is Associate Professor and Chief of the Division of Child and of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Dr. Pliszka was the recipient of a National Institute of Mental Health Physician Scientist Award and conducts research in the areas of psychopharmacology and the comorbidity of psychiatric disorder with ADHD. He has recently been active in examining inhibitory control in ADHD children using neuroimaging techniques and has studied the role of mental disorders in juvenile delinquency. Dr. Pliszka's training and interests are in the area of Neurobiology of Behavior and Psychopharmacology. His clinical interests are in the areas of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Aggression, Mental Retardation and Pervasive Developmental Disorders. His research interests include Neuroimaging in ADHD, Clinical trials of New Drugs in ADHD and Related Conditions, and the Psychopharmacology of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities.
