Target Audience
This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of physicians, pharmacists, and advance practice nurses who are involved in the treatment and management of patients with glioblastoma multiforme.

Statement of Need
Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the United States, and places a significant burden on the healthcare community. In an attempt to prevent cancer-related deaths, the armamentarium of available treatment options continues to expand, particularly in the area of pharmacologic treatment. It is essential that the healthcare community remains up to date with the latest data on advancements in pharmacotherapy. The results of multiple and varied cancer research studies are presented each year at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) annual meeting. This activity will enable participants to receive information that was presented at the much larger society meeting, in a smaller forum. Patterns of practice have the potential to change based on new data, and the accessibility to this overview allows participants to remain informed.

Educational Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

  • Apply advances in scientific and translational research in the care of their patients.
  • Discuss clinical trial data and safety profile of targeting the angiogenesis pathway
  • Assess the clinical impact of emerging strategies targeting angiogenesis on survival and quality of life for glioblastoma patients.
